ADT 1

The ADT 1 variety of Black gram is a Selection from Aduthurai localreleased in the year 1965. This variety takes around 80 days to maturefrom transplantation. The grain yield rainfed is around 450 kg/ha. Thisvariety of black gram has a high protein content of 19.9%.

CO 1

CO 1

The CO 1 variety of Black Gram is a pure line selection fromSrivaikundam local released in 1968. This variety of black gram takesaround 110 days to mature. The grain yield is around 600 kg/ha whenrainfed and 750 kg/ha when irrigated. This variety was released forrainfed condition.

KM 1

The KM 1 variety of Black Gram was released in 1977. This varietytakes around 65-70 to mature from transplantation. The KM 1 has agrain yield of about 25 kg/ha when Rainfed. This variety is of dwarftype and is also known to be drought tolerant.

TMV 1

The TMV 1 variety of Black Gram was developed from the cross of MidhiUlundu and KM 1. This variety was released in 1979. It takes around65-70 days for this variety to mature. The grain yield of TMV 1 isaround 800 kg/ha when irrigated. This variety is said to be resistant toYMV and tolerant to root rot.

VAMBAN 1

The Vamban 1 variety of Black Gram was released in the year 1987. Ittakes around 60-65 days for this variety to mature fromtransplantation. The grain yield of this variety is around 780 kg/hawhen rainfed and 900 kg/ha when irrigated. The Vamban 1 is a highyielding variety and is also tolerant of YMV.

APK 1

The APK 1 variety of Black Gram was released in 1993. This varietytakes around 75 days to mature after transplantation. The grain yieldfor this variety when irrigated is around 940 kg/ha. The APK 1 is wellsuited for rainfed conditions for intercropping with cotton.

VBN (BG) 4

The VBN (Bg) 4 variety of Black Gram was released in 2003. Thisvariety takes about 75-80 days to mature after transplanting. The grainyield for this variety is around 780 kg/ha when rainfed and 900 kg/hawhen Irrigated. This variety is resistant to Yellow Mosaic Virus.

MDU 1

The MDU 1 variety of Black Gram was released in 2014. This varietymatures around 70 – 75 days after transplanting. The grain yield forthis variety is about 790 kg/ha when irrigated. The MDU 1 is a Highyielding variety and is resistant to leaf crinkle virus

KKM 1

The KKM 1 variety of Black Gram was released in 2017. This varietymatures around 65 – 70 days after transplanting. The grain yield of thisvariety is around 607 kg/ha (rice fallow). The KKM 1 variety is a Highyielding one and is moderately resistant to YMV and Powdery mildew. Itis also suitable for rice fallow.
